Opening of the Complex of the Abbey of Santa Maria De Olearia
The Abbey of S. Maria de Olearia consists of three small superimposed churches dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Nicholas, frescoed starting from the X century arose as hermitage between 973 and 987 by the anchorite Peter and his nephew John. It was a Benedictine protocenobio and then Badia, called "de Olearia" for its lush olive trees that are all around the building.
